  • Before I get any more responses regarding my "disgust", you have to know that there are alot of other underlying issues .... which leads to this feeling. So please no further comments on this issue, just on helping me help them. Thank you.
  • How do I find out if anything was mis-sold? Bearing in mind, my father-in-law is ill and confused .... and mother-in-law does not want to get involved and as far as she's concerned, it's his fault? where do i go?

With regards to PPI first you would need to see if they have any PPI. Look on the credit cards statements to see if you can see it being charged or see if you can find out the original documentation.

Then to see if it was mis-sold and how to reclaim there is a easy step-by-step guide here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

As I understand (and I don't know loads about it) if they were retired then it may very well have been mis-sold as they would not have been able to benefit from it.

If they have been charged charges on there credit cards (for being overlimit or missing payments) - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/credit-card-charges

and bank charges - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges (this last one is subject to a lengthy test case at the moment)
