Booking with Expedia

We have found a good price for a flight and hotel booking on Expedia, but I have never booked with them before.The holiday is for £1600 and have been advised that as a deposit we need to pay the cost of the flights.

A friend of mine has said that if booking a package deal on line you are not covered if the go bust. The booking isnt under the 'package holidays' section but 'flights and hotels'. I thought that if you booked by cc that you would be covered anyway. Is this correct? Has anyone had any problems with expedia. We are going in June if that helps.

I don't see Expedia going bust anytime soon. You can find some good offers there sometimes.

If you feel it's a great offer...go ahead and and book

I've used expedia many times and the one time we booked direct flights without using expedia the airline collapsed :rotfl:, so I'm not sure what expedia would be like with a collapsed airline. But yes, book with a credit card (expedia doesn't charge any fees which is great) and you'll be covered either way.

P.S i'm a big fan of expedia having used them a LOT over the years. I don't ever touch travel agents anymore.

I have just booked New York with Expedia, which is the first time i used them and i asked the same question as you pretty much.
So far so good with them, i made a mistake on the booking for my OH and i emailed them to rectify and they swiftly replied.

I think that your friend is thinking of a lack of ABTA (or is it ATOL - I can never remember) coverage if you book the separate parts of a holiday individually, rather than as a package. Section 75 protection, the protection you get by using a credit card to purchase goods and services between £100 and £30000, applies regardless of where you use your card, on or off line.

Also, I have used Expedia a load of times and so far so very good.
