cherished number plates
This is a slightly unusual situation.
I am thinking about buying a car which has a cherished number plate attached to it and the vendor will be transferring it with the sale. Can I sell the plate and re register it with a normal plate?

You can sell it (if it's goat any value) & the car will then have it's original number returned for you to use.
http://www.dvla.gov.uk/welcome.htm has all your answers.

thanks vansboy. The strange thing is, I've seen the original warranty book and , even though the cars 10 years old, it shows the cherished number plate as the original!Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

That is possible. You can have the car registered directly onto the cherished plate when new. The DVLA will just allocate a new one (of appropriate age, obviously) when you transfer the cherished one off.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0
