Very Catalogue and Choice catalogue Account

I've had a Choice catalogue now for over 2 month's got an £800 credit limit. I have read that the Very catalogue is cheaper then Choice. So applied online, but it said 'sorry, can't open you an account at this time'.
The questions were identical to the Choice application?
Do you think they don't like you having another book of theirs in 2 month's period?

Just checked my Choice account and they have upped my limit to £1000! It's all up to date as it comes out by a DD.
  • You can have more than one account with SDG - in fact someone on here has 5 accounts! http://www.shopdirect.com/ourbrands/index.html

Just ring them and they usually overturn it if you mention your other live account..... icon5.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Very charges interest every month and also charges for delivery. That could potentially work out more expensive than Choice if you are slow at paying things off. The rate could be as high as 44.9% depending on the repayment options you select.

Very charges around 39.9% APR, plus a £3.95 delivery charge per normal order. My wife has a very account, and she uses the buy now pay in 12 months offers, then makes sure she pays it off before they apply it to her account. Just a word of caution, they are very quick at raising credit limits, she has had her account for 18 months and her limit has been increased over that time from £200 to 6K..:eek:

6k?!! Christ, that's a lot in just 18 months. Imagine the interest you'd be charged on 6k balance.

Yeah LOL I'm actually quite grateful that I have some self control otherwise that Vanquis card could have put me into a lot of trouble.

I'm just waiting on a letter now to say it's closed.

I unfortunately can't switch banks to HSBC. They don't have a branch in my town. So I dunno if I should just stick with HBOS or move to another bank that does have a branch.

Well phoned them up and the first adviser said there may have been a glich in the system? Although looked at my Equifax files and they have done the searches!
Carrying on, the first adviser passed me onto another person, who was a bit 'starchy' said she could only do another credit check?
    Not very helpful.

Well, tried with Empire Stores this time! Got 'sorry, cannot send a book'
So rang the number that came up for help. This time a far more helpful lady came on the phone, anyway, she said because the Choice Catalogue is running ok, she would overide the decision.

All to get the Green 0's.

Yes, I didn't think of that, got the Empire but with a £100 limit.
The adviser in the credit unit said that it could have been declined because of having too much available credit?
So not sure on the credit building aspect now!
