a biggish container... NOT in the main vege patch.. as i have just dug out roots over 3 ft long!! horrid stuff!!
God helps make my veggie patch grow. He provides everything I need.. It only fails if I do NOT do as He has told me!!

Imagine if Christianity spread like swine flu... how much better the world would be!! God Bless!

Nip some tips off someone else's plant, chuck it in a pot and leave it be. Don't use multi-purpose compost, use garden soil. Just water every day until it roots and then only when it is really dry.

You can root mint by nipping off about 3 inch long cuttings, stripping back the leaves to the last 2 and putting in water in a milk bottle, keeping the water topped up. It should root in a week or 2. Then plant it as above.

I lost my mint last winter, the frost got too it .
Had it growing happily in the top of an ornamental chimney.
So now its in the traditional metal bucket ( bottom removed )
    buried in the garden.

Get in about someone's mint patch & just haul up a runner, or dig a bit up. Plant in an old bottomless bucket as above, because it spreads at a shocking rate.

How the hell do you stop basil from dying as well? It always looks great when I get it home, then in a few hours starts to wilt and die. Poor Basil.

Why, do you take it out on trips?

I sow it into pots, and nip out the growing tip once it has 4-6 leaves, and make sure it doesn't dry out. Basil likes alot of water.
