Just to be clear about this, the cancellation fees applicable to three of E-ON's tariffs (Energy Discount 4, FixOnline 3 and Energy Saver 9) only apply if you're switching away from E-ON to another supplier? Not applicable if you're staying with E-ON and merely changing tariff ?
Thanks for reading this.

I'm afraid not Isacream_Man.
The last section (21?) of the T's & C's for FixOnline 3 that I downloaded last night when switching read:
'Cancellation Fee
We may charge a cancellation fee as set out in Your Plan if:- You transfer your gas and/or electricity to another supplier
- You transfer your gas and/or electricity to another EON plan,
- You move home and do not continue with your FixOnline plan if available.

Thanks for that correction. Strange that they use the word 'may' - unless it is intended to imply that it applies only in the case of those wishing to leave E-ON. Otherwise I wonder in what circumstances E-ON intends to actually apply this £30 cancellation fee.
Perhaps one of the E-ON reps seeing this board can comment on this.0 -
Thanks for this, I was going to post the same question this morning. Brian from E-ON posted in the "Eon cancellation charge for FixOnline 3" on the 14/9/09 at 2:48pm (post 3) on this board that :
Hi charlie12,
Nice and easy response for you here. The cancellation fee of £30 on FixOnline version 3 is only applicable to customers who change supplier.
If you changed tariff within E.ON the charge wouldn’t apply. Also, if you change tariff to one without a cancellation fee, we won’t apply it retrospectively if you leave us and join another supplier.
Brian
So it's a no brainer for people choosing between the save online or fix online 3 tariffs, take the fix online 3 with the greater discount and then move tariff if the prices go down.
Would like to see a comment from E-ON regarding this. As there is some doubt from the T&C's.0 -
Hi IsaCream_Man,
The cancellation fee would usually be applied if the tariff change was mid contract, the reason we won’t apply it is because we are now approaching the end of these product dates.
Essentially we realise that everyone won’t call up/use the internet to change their tariff on the very last day on the contract period so we just don’t apply it towards the end of the term.
I can see why this isn’t clear; the letters we send out about the tariff end dates don’t mention this. I’ll look at feeding this back to see if we can get it changed in the future.

Brian,
So what you are actually saying is that the £30 will be chargeable for anyone who signs up now to FixOnline v3 but then decides to change to another EON plan before 1/12/10?
Except for maybe in the last week or month of the fix?
Can you be clearer about the period at the end of the contract where you will allow a change of plan / supplier without charging the £30?0 -
Hi Colin_London,
Just putting a response to your question on your other thread!
Give me a moment to finish it and I'll post the answer.
