Changing fron electric to gas question?

Hi i'm changing from an electric cooker to gas one ( my girlfriends moving in and she prefers gas) i've already got gas heating what do i have to do, will who ever i buy from install (if i pay) or do i have to have a gas safe qualified person to install my new gas cooker

  • If you decide to buy from one of the high street names such as Currys or Comet then they will offer to install the gas cooker for you. However, I believe you must already have a gas pipe very near to where you want the cooker to be fitted.

    How about you buy the cooker from the internet at a cheaper price than high street then visit www.gassaferegister.co.uk and choose a local engineer to install it for you.

    Also, there are special requirements for gas cookers being installed in flats. Ask a Gas Safe Registered engineer or responsible retailer for more advice on this if it applies to you.
