Been charged for a drain call out, but nothing was fixed

To amplify fiddiweb's question: what did they do for £200 and what will they do for £1000? That seems like an awful lot of money unless ground needs to be dug up to replace or repair drains.

My drainage problems are always cured with the liberal use of caustic soda and a drain rod with a plunger attachment.

I do have a set of drain rods and I managed to clear most of it out. The only problem is that the U-bend tube seems to have something stuck at the bottom of it (like a rock/concrete - something hard). This is then causing the sewerage to go through the overflow pipe which starts blocking up over time as junk collects above the main U pipe.

For 1000 pounds they will remove the U pipe and replace with a through pipe connected to the overflow pipe.

Having read Halloway's comment on caustic soda, I may just try that as perhaps the 'concerete'/'rocks' are just solid junk? Btw, the drainage guy used a jet pipe which sends out 3 PSI compressed air and said that if it was a small rock or something that pressure would have blasted it up?

I still feel ripped off and left with the same problem.
