Work experience counts for a lot these days. Just having a degree doesn't automatically qualify a person for an admin job. With the credit crunch, there are thousands of highly experienced admin people on the dole. People who will be able to fill a CV with years of qualifying experience and examples to show why they are better for the job than you.
Also, admin jobs usually dont start at £18k unless they are skilled or managerial. I would say public sector jobs are better pay for an admin job so start there. In fact, (going back to your last thread) I would say the armed forces pays better than bottom level admin jobs.
2 months isn't a long time to be looking for work. You should expect to be looking for a few more months still. My advice would be to consider doing some voluntary office work to help build up your experience and don't limit yourself to jobs paying £18k or more.0 -
And you are in the same position as those 'drop outs' and '!!!!!!' so I would be quiet if I were you.
I dont think so madam.
Big difference. If it isnt clear why that is then...do i really have to spell it out?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
what you say about the job center will be very offensive to genuine people, like yourself? 'maybe'? who are looking for work. You need a change of attitude and a bit of humble pie and maybe, just maybe, you might be in with a chance of someone willing to employ you. I work in a school and believe me with the attitude of sheer arrogance that you portray, you wouldn't last 2 minutes with parents.0

If not teaching you can always do a working holiday and get a normal temp job somewhere like australia or new zealand. Thats what I did and it was much easier than finding work over here.
I may be back here now struggling to find work but I feel far more mature and focused than I did three years ago. The past few months have made me even more determined to sort out my life and get a decent career.
If you're on jsa, maybe look into a free part time college course to improve your employment prospects. I'm currently doing RSA text processing as I've seen it asked for in quite a few adverts for admin jobs.0 -

I was replying to your last thread but post got lost.
With the agencies you have emailed CV's to, have you followed them up with a phone call to see if they have received them and to see if there are any suitable vacancies?
Do you also look at your local council and local NHS for jobs? Quite often they have a wide selection of administrative jobs.
With your JSA (depending which time your on) you might be able to get college course at a discounted or free rate. You could maybe use this to gain some admin skills/do a computer course like ECDL.0 -
It is, no snobbery intended. Also I apologise if I offended you, but I'm just rather fed up if I were to be honest of sitting around looking for work. And then proving to the JC that your not a bum and actually are looking for work.
Feels like you have to prove yourself 24/7
Yah I agree, Nah I wast offended, Just in an argumentitive mood =P.
