kitchen Floor Cupboards?

Does anyone have any experience of fitting or making base units cantilevered, so they appear to be legless. I was wandering if a thin metal staycould be incorporated between units at 45 deg and bolted to the wall below the worktop. Or would using wall unit mounts and perhaps some 4 by 2 underneath at the bottom do it.
All ideas are needed.
TIA

If you are considering wall unit mounts and 4x2 timber underneath???
Then why not just go the traditional method of cupboards that are on legs, but have a plinth at the front that hides them away..0 -
I want to try to make the base units "float" so really don't want any legs or plinth if I can work out a way to do it. I have seen it done on some very expensive German units so it isn't beyond the wit of man. I am just fishing around for ideas at the moment.
Bit like this one http://www.bulthaup.com/bulthaup/internet/en/home.nsf/contentview/866959C782AB02E0C125707600307D95The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
It's quite easy to do. The problem is that the unit will have to be built or reinforced to accomodate this type of installation, whilst supporting plates and heavy pots etc.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0
