Hi my wife is pregnant and will soon be going on maternity leave. I'm on DLA and Incapacity benefit.
Is there anything we could get to help as we will be on just over £200 a week, with morgate, bills, food etc to pay for never mind a baby on the way !!!!
Thanks
Dom

I can't answer for the standard benefits but she should qualify for a Health in pregnancy grant. Might be worth investigating tax credits as her income has dropped but she's still technically employed? Possibly Healthy start vouchers? there'll be other people here more up to speed on what the income limits are.
just found this on the CAB site

Hi look into tax credits. You may be entitled to extra working tax credits whilst your partner is on maternity leave. Also when the baby is born you will be entitled to tax credits and child allowance.0

Hello, I work for the NHS and I know there is a one off payment for £250.00...
Will see if I can find a link for you, if not ask in your GPs as this is where we are putting the promotional posters.
Im pretty sure it would be a blanket thing and not regional - will chase and get back to you!0 -
