in Credit cards
Have been sent some Barclaycard cheques at 0% till March 2010 at a 2.5% fee and wanted to be absolutely clear on my terms, have now phoned Barclaycard twice and not feeling totally at ease with my answers so has anyone got any experience of them, I have been told by Barclaycard
Thanks in advance for any advice but want to be sure I dont end up messing up my current deal.
- I can pay into my Current Account, merchants or other credit cards
- The promotional rate will last to the end of March 2010
- I can use upto £5k per cheque and upto 90% of my credit limit (on getting this card I was only allowed a BT of £5k in total despite a £15k credit limit.
Thanks in advance for any advice but want to be sure I dont end up messing up my current deal.

You can only use the cheque for paying off other credit card bills and no where does it say you can pay into your current account.
The Max is £5,000 or 90% of available credit.
As you know the offer is until March 0% 2.5 fee. On no account spend on the card until offer is finished. Also balance transfer should be paid off
by your March statement.0 -
Why not apply to Virgin, they did much longer deal(16 months) for 3% fee0

That was my concern as I was surprised that their customer services said I could pay into my current account, unfortunately the call centre is obviously abroad and I am not sure they totally understood my very specific question although it was them that suggested the current account, will try one more time tomorrow and ask for full confirmation.0

I have paid Barclaycard promotional cheques into a Current Account without problem.
If you make sure you note the name of the CSA with the date and time of the call you have evidence to go back to them should they not honour their word.0 -
Thanks for that, I have noted all the details just in case and have read the t & c and nowhere does it say I cant although it does not say I can ! will give it a go tomorrow and see what happens.0

does it not say in the letter how you can use the cheques?
if it says something like "use these to pay off other balances" then it suggests that it is the intended use.
if it says use it for anything then you could pay it into your accounts.
Now the question is, if it is not clear and you do you use in a way they dont like, can they legally do anything? up to you but if you are on a good deal then i would be very careful especially if the folk you have called dont know themselves.2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0 -
The letter talks about balance transfers but is not particularly clear, it also says I can ring up and do balance transfers but when I asked about this they said that I could not do that ?!?, I do have a 0% offer till March 2010 which I need to keep in place hence the attempt to clarify the t & c's
The fact that someone has done this before is encouraging but will have one more go tomorrow and see what answer I get this time !0 -

Barclaycard periodically issues credit card cheques, which can be paid directly into your current account. Please check the accompanying Ts & Cs carefully though, as these vary with each promotionPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Moggles is right you can pay them into your current account - You can email them via your secure email online just log into your barclaycard account. Get them to confirm this to you so that you have evidence if things go wrong.0
