hi the pc (I'm on a laptop to type this) won't start properly. Running on Vista, says it can't start - do I want Safe Mode: Safe mode with networking: Safe mode with command prompt: last good config or normal
I've tried them all - with no success. I get the windows icon appearing for a couple of seconds, and then the screen goes black ..... waited and nothing happens. I tried starting in safe mode, and it was going through the drivers and then stuck...... just had a list on the screen. No new software (or hardware) been installed prior to this - just appears to have given up on me! any advice gratefully received.

WARNING: FACTORY RESTORE WIPES EVERYTHING ON THIS PC. YOU WILL LOSE DATA. IF IN DOUBTASK A LOCAL TECHIE FRIEND TO BACKUP YOUR HARD DRIVE.
To get Windows running read the manual on how to restore it to factory settings, it may be software related and restoring windows may fix it, or if that fails it may be hardware. Depending on the company some do restores that will just re-install Windows, some do a wipe and restore, if you have photo's or file you need to keep you need to either boot to a "live" linux CD and back them up to a memory stick, or take the drive out and save them to another PC.
Actually if it fails to boot to a Live Linux CD then it's probably hardware related too.
Hard to diagnose further on the info you have given..0 -
thanks for response. Opening in safe mode I get two screens and then it freezes -the
first line says
milti disk rdisk partition (1) WINDOWS\System32\l_intl.nls
then one ending \FONTS\vgaoem.fon
\AppPatch\drvmain.sdb
\System32\DRIVERS\ACPI.sys
then about 20 further lines of similar all ending in .sys
last line says:
multi disk rdisk partition (1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\gagp30kx.sys
and it is not doing anything now - just showing the above - any help?Bern :j0 -
