Our fridge (£750 LG USA Fridge freezer) has got a prob with the doors, short story is they are sending a repair note to us and we are supposed to re sort another delivery etc as can't be repaired..
The prob we have is it was such a nightmare getting it in as we live in a townhouse and the issues of what to do with the food etc are not a great thought SO..
someone i know (one of the poor lads who helped move it in as currys wouldn't) has said he would ask for a very good refund as compensation and keep it..
i'm not sure what to do..i am quite anal over things like this and as annoying as the door looks it is not major, out of the 2 i think ide rather put up with it..
So if we decide to keep it if this is poss and ask what do you think is reasonable?
Thanks.

I can't see them refunding you AND allowing you to keep the fridge. If they take it back, they will simply put new doors on it and then they have a fully operational fridge again...
I'm sure someone suggested it was a bad idea getting a cheap USA fr/fz though...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Why not see if they will refund the delivery charge?
The store might also offer a "live with" payment if you wish to keep it as it is (presumably the damage is cosmetic and not affected the performance?)Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
I can't make head nor tail of original post. Sending out repair note and it can't be repaired? Wanting to redeliver?
So are they offering you a new fridge?0 -
Hi mwilletts i didn't ask for a refund i was asking r.e compensation instead of the hassle of removeing it..also if you think £800 is cheap for a fridge maybe you don't need to be on a money saving site?!
Esqui we didn't paya delivery charge but i did have to pay the lads who dleivered it up the stairs for me so in a way we will be out if we have to do it again, yes the damage is a wonky door, the fridge works just fine.
Hintza sorry you don't understand the post i think some others may have seen previous posts of this ongoing saga! basically it's non repair job so we either ask for a refund of some sort as compensation or get it changed, the changing is a nightmare so trying to decide which is best.
Thanks for the replys.0 -

But £800 IS very cheap for an American fridge freezer. With all things being relevant, a decent USA fr/fz will set you back £1200-£1500, expensive ones are £2000+, therefore £800 is cheap...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Ah mwillets fair enough but think you would be mad to spend that sort of money! tbh i have no idea why they are so much some of them as the one i liked in place of this was £1100 had exactly the same spec..all do the same don't they?!0

What would I do?
Not spoend £750 on a fridge for starters, this is a money saving site, not a m,oney wasting site0 -

Yeah, they do the same thing, but the doors don't go wrong... :cool:If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Freddie_Snowbits i have saved lots of money thanks but the question was aimed at the fridge not my personal spending habits..if i wanted to save more money i guess i wouldn't have bought it?!
mwilletts hmm the Samsung thread doesn't appear to agree with you..nor do the reviews for some expensive ones we looked at, i think you will find most things aren't perfect! plus the small issue of the doors is me being picky and not an error with it working as such..still glad i bought this and not a more expensive one.0
