Anyone tried this lot? Anyone had to claim off them, how were they?
Considering switching, as they've offered a very cheap quote, almost too cheap... about a third of what More Th>n want for renewal and half what most quotes on Confused came back with.

Waiting for another first time poster to come along and say how great they are...I am a Financial Adviser specialising in Mortgages, Protection, Health and Medical Insurance. I also write wills. All information posted on this site is for discussion only, and should not be taken as advice.0

Hehehe, yeah, guess it would look a bit sussed. Difficult one, I was just trying to search the net, to dig up some dirt on them. Just came across the tips on here, and a search of the forums here didn't bring up much. So figured I'd join up and post a question.
I don't know much about them, but have been getting the odd spam through letter box over the years, this was just the first year it happened to coincide with my renewal date. They seemed OK on the phone, if a bit laid back; the terms matched by more th>n policy and even had lower excesses.
So anyone whose been on here a while with a high post count had any dealings with them?0 -
I've never heard of them. However, that doesnt surprise me as a look on their website shows they are an intermediary.
They also appear to be tied in most insurance areas:
We offer products from Great Lakes Reinsurance for home insurance, products from Fortis Insurance for travel insurance and products from DAS for legal expenses insurance, a limited range of insurers are offered in respect of other insurance products.
Intermediaries can compete with quote sites. However, a difference in premium of the size you suggest would make me think that you are not comparing like for like.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Right fair enough. I did go through my More Than schedule and they did seem to match it pretty much. Don't think I've missed anything.
£75K worth of contents cover, £50 excess.
Standard accidental cover for electronics - upto £1.5K per item (I think).
£500K building cover, £75 excess (£1K for subsidence).
Stuff in shed covered upto £1K (covers my bikes)
My More Than quote is same, but with both excesses at £100, and bikes limited to £368 each. More Than provide more legal services covers (£50K, rather than £20K). WF quote £167, MT quoted £475. Hence it just seems too cheap to be kosher. What other stuff should I question, to make sure I'm getting the cover I need?0 -

Stephhenni - did that happen this morning with our USA poster? I saw all the threads before I left for work but now they are all deleted.
Arfa___ - I had a quick look on the Defaqto site for the Great Lakes policy but couldn't find anything listed. It's a useful resource for checking cover levels.

Great Lakes do exist as a reinsurer and are part of the Munich Re group. That division seems to be in some difficulty though if you look here - http://www.gluksolventscheme.com/
I think I would avoid WF if I were you.0 -
Fair enough. Thanks for the heads up. Glad the cynic in me held back, rather than diving in at the too good to be true price.0

Bear in mind that "Standard Accidental Damage cover for electronics" is generally not the same as full Accidental Damage, so if you have full Accidental Damage on your Morethan policy is sounds like that could be the difference.0

Settled for M&S now, came out cheapest on Confused at a bit under £300, with full accidental contents cover. I had always thought More Than were M&S, but puzzled really...0

More than are a brand of RSA (Royal Sun Alliance).
If you check your credit report you will find a credit check from RSA for every quote you did. So if you did lots if quotes you'll have lots of searches.
They are the harmless identity check ones and not a credit search.0
