oh dear oh dear, We have been going through the EXACT same thing with them. Do the words bang, head, brick and wall sound familiar? My god these people are horrendous. James, in the end we got so sick and tired of it (and had to change our phone number by the way) that we just let it go out of sheer frustration. It went to an external debt collector (debitas are internal to capital one) and now we happily pay £35 a month instead of the £70+ that debitas wanted. These people need shutting down. they don't listen, they promise the earth and it's always 'just one more payment and we can set the plan up for you' and when you phone back it's 'we need to increase that figure'
They are all wind. you will never get anywhere with them. They sent us dozens of letters telling us we had 'failed to respond' and accused us of 'ignoring them'. How can being phoned constantly and us sending recorded letters be ignoring someone? Letters, I have to add, that they wouldn't deal with as we hadn't signed them. Green? I think not. The people on these boards are amazing and i've learned an awful lot and am still learning now.

Thanks for the reply. I had the same letter saying I never respond but at one point was on the phone to them 3 or 4 times a week. I am going to stick to my guns this time as I can't really afford any more than the £100 and is more than double what my minimum monthly payments were before. I'll see what happens on the 20th.
