MBNA Repayment missed on 0% deal

hello

I have just realised that I should have paid the month payment on my MBNA balance 2 days ago. I have just paid it now. I currently have a 0% deal with thm until March. Will they now cancel that deal and put me onto the standard rate?

Thanks in advance

Probably, but worth giving them a call and pleading for mercy. If you can sort it set up a direct debit to stop it happening again.
  • yes!

However if you phone up, say you made a mistake, rectified it and offer to set up a DD and kiss butt politely. You stand a good chance of getting it and the charge refunded.

If it doesn't work leave it 24hrs and have another go.. it's discretionary!
  • Thanks for that. Just rang them. The nice girl on the other end agreed to keep the 0% if I set up the DD. She did say:

"we will reinstate the 0% rate as of today"

Does that mean I only pay 2 days at the standard rate or will it go back to the statement date?

Don't worry about it, you got a good result.
  • I know. I'm quite surprised and relieved
  • To whom it may concern,
was in this position last year and I called them they restored the 0% rate for the remainder of the term.
have not been so happy with them this time round as I rolled a balance transfer onto them and their minimum monthly payment has gone up a lot (around £215 per month)clearly not what I intended when I transferred it!

    Hope this is some use

Yes, it pays to contact customer services as soon as you discover the lapse.

From feedback here, MBNA will refund late payment fees as a goodwill gesture and reinstate your promo rate, provided that it's a "first offence" and you ask nicely. Leave it longer and this lender may not refund interest already charged ;)
