Car accident other party admits liabilty - what should i do?

Hi again jehangir,
Just wondered if you'd had any further communication with the third party insurers. I still don't understand why they won't pay out, when their client is insured for third party damage and has admitted liability. It really shouldn't make any difference that you only have third party cover, and no legal cover - the legal cover is so that your insurers can get back uninsured losses from the third party, and as far as I can tell, unless I've missed something vital, the damage to your car is insured, and your injuries should be covered too. If the third party insurers won't pay out, what is the point of car insurance?
Anne
There's no suggestion they won't pay out. The accident was only a couple of weeks ago. They probably have a backlog. Most insurers aren't known for a swift, proactive approach to dealing with claims.0 -

The Legal Cover is not for the Insurers benefit but to recover UNINSURED losses such as injuries, excess and damage to your car if your only covered for Third Party and its a non fault accident. The losses are uninsured so are of no real interest to the Insurer0 -
i suggest you use an accident management company or speak to the third party insurers direct..
tell them you require a replacement vehicle etcSealed pot challenger # 10

hi thanks for all the information it is very much appreciated .
The claim company is the motor claim line , firsty i must say they did not mention anything about fees etc when i went it there , they just said that they would recommend a solicitor who would act on my behalf. When i ask what was in it for them they said nothing , and they made their money from leasing out cars when acciddents occur.
Kick the scummy, sticky-fingered lawyers into touch. You are clearly intelligent, so you will have no trouble managing the claim yourself.
Yup, cancel them..The letter i received from the solicitors includes a form form of authority to act , and of cancellation which i have 7 days to fill in but i do not know if i will be charged for the work they have done up to this point .
Normal practice. You only paid for TPFT/TPO insurance, so cannot expect help in recovering your damages. Your insurer, Swiftcover, would only have intervened if the Third Party had made a claim against you (i.e. against your insurer). My insurers ( swiftcover ) do not want to know, they just say as i am third party and did not take out legal cover it is not their problem.
In other words, the Third Party Insurer is offering you a free Courtesy Car, in the hope that you take that instead of renting a Credit Hire car.I have just had phone call from the other parties insurers who have said that i should take my car to a garage in the city centre to get a qoute and they would provide a courtesy car but to be honest i do no need one as my car is driveable.
Credit Hire cars are typically provided by a company affiliated to your own Insurer. Credit Hire cars can cost over £100 a day (because of the cost of the credit, etc..)As for the injuries , when the accident happened , i went to the A+E as i could not bend of mover my neck , the said that i had whiplash , which has steadily got worst ( on pain killers and Diazepam.
Get off that crap ASAP!! Haven't you been watching Coronation Street? Tina's dad, Joe McKintyre, went bonkers on that stuff and smashed up the Surgery. Be warned.
Go in with your arms flailing.. And make sure you get every damn penny out of those filthy sods. They haunt this earth for one purpose only: to rob and steal.I was told that as they have admitted liablity that it will be easier and faster to deal direct with them direct but as i have never had to make a claim or deal with solicitors before it is quite intimadating.0 -
hi , just an update . I cancelled the original solicitor and went through 3 more from the list provided by the law society . I might be wrong but all 3 seemed to want to drag the case on and use their " own " people ( doctors , garages etc ) .I know it will not cost me but but it just does not feel right .
So as Asbokid ( thankyou for your post) suggested i contacted the other parties insurers direct and explained the situation , that my car is damaged and i suffered whiplash ( still in paim ) and lets come to an amicale deal if possible .
They sent me a form to fill in asking what injuries i sustained and if i wanted to see a private physio , they also asked me to sign a medical mandate to " enable us access to your medical records if necessary
via your GP" .
Is this normal practice ? and do you know what the normal prodcedure is with a claim of this type as i do not want to go out of my depth .
thank for everyones help

yes they will request your medical records its to see if you have had problems with your back/neck previously . the second time when i was hit.. they asked me to release my records..they phoned me and offered me some compensation
no medical../really depends on the company.
as i had and accident the year before, they said they would pay me for my suffering exagerated by this accident. paid me within 6 monthsSealed pot challenger # 10
