They consistantly come in the bottom two of surveys of brokers on Insurers (Only Tradex come lower). There are plenty of threads on MSE about Quinn Direct.

They are not quite like a normal UK car Insurer, I would liken them to the Ryan Air of Insurance.

If you have provisional licence holders on the policy, they quote a low price to get your business. When you ring to advise them someone has passed their test they will ask you for a very large additonal premium generally around the same amount as the annual premium.

You can get a rough idea of how much their price willl increase to by running a quote through with one or both of the young drivers having full licences.
  • thanks dacouch

back to the drawing board i think

No problem, I'm glad you avoided their trap, a lot of people fall for it as they are cheap with provisional licence holders.

There are lots of other reasons not to use Quinn, if you do a search of MSE for "Quinn" you will find lots of threads.

Most Insurers do not increase the premium mid term when you pass your test, when you get quotes give the Insurer a ring and ask them if it will go up. Make a note of the persons name and the date / time in case of any future arguements.

Have a look at Direct Line, any of the Admiral Companies and try a local broker as these companies can be good with your drivers.
  • hi
just thought i would come back and let you know i got fully comp insurance through the post office £335.
I have a wee nissan micra and i am on provisional
If and when i add my daughter who is 17 they will insure her for an extra £600.
which yes sounds a lot but it is a lot better than the £1500 - £3000 we had been quoted elsewhere

    thanks again for help
