First plus ppi

Hi There,
Hoping for advice really. Having sent stage 1 letter to First plus and received after 8 weeks the full response from them stating that policy was no mis-sold. They quote from a recording apparently of a discussion between my husband and an account manager where my husband was told several times about PPI and they have included photocopies of paperwork we signed and list of questions my husband was asked etc.
At this point I am not sure whether to continue, although I never spoke to anybody and I am the person who is suposed to be covered!!! As i am dyslexic half the terminology makes no sense to me and were desperate at the time for money so would have said yes to anything to be honest.
Do we think my claim will be just laughed at if I continue???
Thanks in advance

You could always have said "yes" to firstplus's selling technique which is usually that you would get back your PPI if you do not claim on it within 5 years but they forget to tell you would still owe all the interest and its only the ACTUAL PREMIUM you get back. I don't think you will be laughed at and FOS are upholding 99% of claims for PPI against FP so that says something. I would write back and if you were not given the option of buying elsewhere (which I bet you were not) then that is still a good reason. Also were you actually covered.
There is a way that you could get hold of the so called calls and that is by requesting a SAR from them. This can take them 40 days to supply but it would prove some things in what they are actually telling you (although even if you did agree there were rules on selling these policies). As the PPI covered you did they offer this to you or was it just your husband that did the calls. DO NOT give up. I would certainly carry on the fight and if the ombudsman is anything to go by you will win.
If you decide on the SAR then a template is here

It costs you £10 and you post everything by recorded delivery so you have proofs.
If FP write back and state again you were not missold then you will have the option of going to the Ombudsman with it anyway. Also remember they only have 8 weeks since first complaining to actually give you a full and final response.
Good luck0
