Service Advice?
Hi just wondered if anyone could give me there advice/views? My Honda CRV is due for a yearly service, last service was its 25000 mile one & its still only done 18300 now. There's no immediate problems to my knowledge, could I leave the service a little later? Also on checking prices surprisingly Honda this yr was quoting £230 compared with £387 I paid last yr. Nationwide quote on line £215 I am totally unsure what Nationwide are like? There seems to be some cheaper ones on line but you don't seem to know which garage it would go to. Is there anyone else you could recommend? Are intrim services OK & worth it?
With cash a bit tight I would appreciate any comments
Thx

For £15 i would stick with the Honda servicing, it will pay much more back come re-sale. You need to be careful about the servicing with regards to the warranty. Most give a tolerance i have the opposite problem i do massive milages and Nissan state due service plus 1500 which in my case can be a week. But i need to look but there is also a time limit for car being serviced by age rather than milage but i reckon a month out would be ok. Failing all that if you cannot afford to get the car serviced think about buying a cheaper car and banking the money.0

I never get services based on time, just mileage.
If its not done the mileage within the year then its hard for it to affect the warranty, it could have been kept in your lounge under a duvet for all they know! :rotfl:
When your less than a 1000 miles from the next mileage in the service book book it in. 5 brand new cars in the last ten years including a Honda all dealer serviced and never had any warranty issues.0

Hi & thx for your comments....joe2cool0

getthe service done at Honda but you could phoen and ask them about leaving it later due to your low mileage and see what they say.
Some things are affected by time rather than use, oil and brake fluid for example though a good oil should last for 2 years+ (which is the time based service interval on my car for example).0

If it's the three year service what warranty is left?0

Get a manual from ebay such as: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-CRV-2002-04-SERVICE-REPAIR-MANUAL_W0QQitemZ370262482526QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET?hash=item56355d1e5e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
This'll tell you exactly what needs servicing and when, allowing you to decide whether it needs servicing or not. If you just need a simple oil change/coolant flush etc then the fiver this manual costs will pay for itself instantly.0

Something else to keep in mind about going back to the main dealer.
While actual vehicle recall items will get done as the dealer or Honda would write to you about it there are often advisory items of work that would get done on your vehicle not as a matter of urgency but when you next bring it into the dealer. You may not even know when this happens. If you never go back to the main dealer your not likely to find about about these.
Items I can think of - My old Mitsubishi Galant got suspension components replaced FOC when 5 years old, wifes Mazda 6 got replacement power steering hose FOC at 4 years old - by main dealers.0

They may do a different service this time compared to last year.
Vauxhall do a major service every 2 years on my car and an interim service every 1 year.
Well they used to before it became 3 years old last month.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
 & Choo Choo for trains!!0
