Car Scrappage - vehicle log book
I've ordered a new car using the Governments New Car Scrappage Scheme. I have been asked for the Vehicles Log Book by the Dealers and have just been told that it is the 'Old Style' and that the Government will only accept the 'New Style' for the vehicle to be used in the scheme.
Having not moved house, changed name or been sent the 'New Style' I need to order one from the DVLA - AT A COST OF £25  Is this right? It seems like a Government & DVLA way of recouping some of the monies they are paying out in the scheme? So they are not giving £1000 to you for your old car but £975 - What other hidden costs are involved I wonder?

Have you checked with another dealer(s) to see if this is correct?0

You have been incorrectly advised.
The old style logbook is still a valid document as such, however if it is not the most recently issued document then the dealer will normally not accept this.
There is no cost for a replacement logbook IF you have the original. EIther return original with covering letter asking for new version or complete form V62 from post office or here and send with the green section (V5/2) from the original logbook (I would do the 2nd option).

I thought all old stlye docs were replaced in rolling program some years ago. I think the whole thing was well publicised at the time. There are no hidden costs to the scrappage scheme.
Not for the first time on here:rolleyes: I'm going to suggest that you go here
