HELP! re neighbours cats

  • If you work all day, lock your cat outside day & night, you're just as bad as they are. Especially this time of year with fireworks etc.

I cant afford to get a microchip reading catflap and in any case the door in no where near a power supply. Has any of you had experiance with the magnetic variety? I need to know they are going to be strong enough to withstand the tom pushing on it.

We had a similar problem in our old house. We had a magnetic catflap (which does not need a power supply BTW so don't worry about your door not being near a plug) and our cats both had chips on their collars. Unfortunately it was not strong enough to keep out the local tom who barged his way through, even when it was locked. Yuk!

This was a few years ago and it sounds like there are now better ones on the market, but do some research online before you part with your money.
YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

really....it's not hard to understand :T

Thanks guys but keeping my cats outdoors all day and night is not an option, they are used to being inside. I work all day so am not here to let them in or out. MIght pop into a shop that sells the magnetic ones and ask about them.

My cat too was used to being inside when we were at work, believe it or not they can hold their wee and if not get them a litter tray till you get home?

We used to get up at 6am for work, let the cat in who had been out playing all night, she would then sleep all day when we were at work. She would go straight out for a wee once we got in from work and she would come back in and sleep some more. Then she would be put out for the night when we went to bed

She managed this for 18 years.

Near the end we got her a big huge dog cage (because she was scratching mams furniture loads, and in there we had her blanket her food and a litter tray but she never used the litter tray.

    Hi All,

Just thought I'dpost this in case anyone reading this thread is thinking of getting a microchip reading cat flap.

I was going to get the Petporte but at £102.50 + p&p I was determined to shop around. I went to Pet Supermarket and got the one they sell which had been reduced from £150(!!!) to £75ish and went through Quidco for the extra 5% saving, anything over £79 is free postage so got some catfood for £6 which makes is basically free as was going to be paying £5 for posting anyway.

Will post again once its been in use for a week or so, that way you'll have some feedback on it.

  • I used to quality check cat flaps as a job (yawwwwn) lol
You can get a magnetic cat flap for around £35 that these cats wouldnt be able to get into without a magnet, unless of course they try following yours in!
