Tried the 64-bit Beta on my dualcore, it went on to the partition I carefully prepared for it, rebooted, trashed both itself and my XP install, then refused to install onto the partition it originally went onto without a problem.
However, I intend to see if it is possable to import an upgrade 32bit edition from the US, as I have no wish to have to back-up 25Gb of personal data, only to then spend 4 hours re-installing all my software & backed-up data.
Whatever you buy you will receive a 64 and a 32 bit version. I believe you can upgrade from vista to windows 7 using the european disks however I plan to do a clean install when I get mine (little choice as the upgrade path from the beta versions of windows 7 was closed and I've been running the beta/rc as my main OS for some time on both my computers)0 -
Only Microsoft could celebrate the fact that so many people hate its current operating system so much that the prospect of finally being able to get rid of it is cause for a party.

They brought out a phone that was lacking technology that their competitors already had, just so they could bring out a better version a couple of years later. That is Microsoft thinking right there.
At the end of the day what I want from my computer is not some snobbery- I just want it to work, and having to sacrifice games I want to play, software I want to run, and computers I want to own just because they aren't compatible is not my idea of a good design.

One the other hand they also brought out a phone that was revolutionary!
What other phone had fluid touch screen that actually worked and was so simple to use, what other phone had multi touch, easy to install applications, one of the simplest music libraries?
Maybe apple did hold back on some of the technologies - however this was apple treading its toes into a new business area and fortunately it worked in their favor and like it all not had upped the ante so much that every other phone manufacturer is trying to emulate the success of the iPhone. I have read about the new iPhone killers, and guess what the iPhone is still here and going strong and until my 1st gen iPhone breaks down i will not part with it!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

No it isn't, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=define%3A+revolutionary&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g4One the other hand they also brought out a phone that was revolutionary!
Windows Mobile phones, popularised to an extent as O2 XDAs, or T-Mobile MDAs.What other phone had fluid touch screen that actually worked
WinMo is quite simple, really.and was so simple to use
That's one.what other phone had multi touch
Nokia have had Java applications on their phones for many, many years now (since their black/white screens, infact). All you had to do was go to a WAP site with the app, choose to download it, and you're done.easy to install applications
The technology never really caught on, much, but it still is as simple as it could be to install an app on a Nokia phone. I remember installing an app for MSN several years ago.
Searching through a music library by playlist, genre, artist, etc. is NOT an innovation by Apple, and has been implimented before. Motorola, Samsung, etc.one of the simplest music libraries?
This question is merely mis-information and ignorance into already existing technology.
The technology already existed, and Apple not only refused to include this in TWO versions of the phone (original, and 3G in terms of proper MMS support), they decided it would be a good idea to over-charge for the device. Do note that the iPhone costs more than £500 on PayG, which costs more than my gaming PC (that manages to show over 100fps constant on most games, max settings).Maybe apple did hold back on some of the technologies
Don't flatter Apple, phone manufacturers have been doing this long before the iPhone came out. When something is popularised, it's mimicked. This business mindset has existed for many decades.every other phone manufacturer is trying to emulate the success of the iPhone.
If anyone thinks Apple is original and Steve Jobs is a 'brilliant innovator of our time', then I really want what they're smoking. Also, for the video posted above; it's quite ironic that he's commenting on Microsoft having 'no taste' and 'no originality', when NextStep (what evolved into the current Mac UI), directly mimics the early Windows builds.
Of course, no one would actually point that out, mainly due to pure condescending ignorance.
I'd rather not associate myself with elitists, though I felt I should comment on this, due to the childish Mac fanatic attitude.
This is a Windows thread, not Mac.Leave your discussions for when a topic on Snow Leopard comes up.0 -
