Seatwave complaint - suspended account

Hey,

Just wanted a bit of advise. I've been selling tickets on Seatwave for the last 6 months and become a 'Pro Seller' which means I get paid on dispatch rather than waiting for the event.

I've made over £3500 worth of sales, had a slight issue with one for around £80, and my account has been suspended and I can no longer trade on Seatwave. I have read the User Agreement and did not break any of the terms, and this is was a big part of my income.

I have been in contact with the directors in the company and managing directors neither of which are listening or giving me details on how to externally complain about this treatment. They even suggested that I just create a new account, but obviously would only be paid after the event, I found this really unprofessional and made me question the reason why they permantly suspended my account.

Could anyone share with me the details of who regulates Seatwave so I can make a complaint

Thanks

Erm...as far as I can see, Seatwave regulate Seatwave...

There must be some sort of regulation for the Secondary ticket market though? Like buyer protection, they might also be able to help with this.

mwilletts is correct, Seatwave is a private company, they are not regulated in any way that would help you. They can choose who they allow to sell, and for some reason they do not want you to do so.

Perhaps now you could leave tickets to be bought by genuine fans at cost price? ;)
    Gone ... or have I?

Not that I'm aware of. It's just like ebay, they regulate themselves...

I am absolutely fully against those selling tickets at a massive increase in price, and I only sell tickets at 5/10% more rather than a whole 50/100% like most others.

My prices are always the cheapest on Seatwave and closest to the face value, because I know how hard it is to get tickets first thing when they are released, many people are at work etc and that's why I resell tickets on Seatwave.

I do make a bit of profit, due to the volume of tickets I sell, but I think that's probably why Seatwave wasn't too happy, because they weren't making enough fees from my sales or something to make it worthwhile.

They surely can't be let to do what they like. I have followed their Terms of Agreement, and have around £600 worth of tickets sold already, but have not received them or sent them yet so haven't been paid.

I cannot afford to lose this money, and reselling them would be very hard without using Seatwave. I don't want to have to take this to a small claims court, but possible the only option to get the money for the sales?

Sorry for the double post. So if you have spoken to the Managing Director at eBay or a company like this and they have a made a decision and not looked into the case fairly, that's as far as it can be escalated?

Would Consumer Direct or organisations like that be able to help?

    Thanks

Nope, no-one can help. As dmg24 quite rightly said, they don't have to allow anyone to sell on there. They can decide to suspend/cancel anyones' account for any reason they like.

    You have two options:

    1) create a new account and hope they don't find out it's you

    2) stop buying and selling tickets for your own personal gain and feel morally good...

If you make a LOT of money from selling tickets though and you don't declare it as income, I'm sure these guys might be interested:

Although you had "sold" £600 of tickets, as you haven't actually received them yet (so haven't sent them) then you haven't lost out on anything, so nothing to claim in court.

Seatwave are a private company, so regulate themselves. What was the issue with the "problematic" £80 ticket that caused them to suspend your account?

Buying and selling of tickets for profit is a risky business. Perhaps you could sell them on ebay instead?

    * I do not condone selling tickets for profit, and personally think that they should change the law so that all "spare" tickets can be sold at a maximum of face value.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • hey,

I have sold on both Get Me In and via gogo too in the past and in my experience neither of them suspend your account based on a first misdemeanour. You should try emailing sales@viagogo.com they may be able to offer some advice.
