driver needed for C-Media 9739A AC'97 sound card

hi, i need to reinstall the sound card on my pc as i had to reinstall xp when it crashed. the sound card is C-Media 9739A AC'97. i've checked their website but it only seems to have links for newer software :mad:. can anyone help please.

is your computer an acer? if so you can get all the drivers from their website

Try the following:

1. Go to Start→Run, type devmgmt.msc and click OK.
2. Look under Sound, video and game controllers for an unidentified device.
3. Right-click it and select Update Driver. If prompted, allow Windows to connect to Windows Update to search for it.

Alternatively, go to Start→Help and Support, select "Keep your computer up-to-date with Windows Update" and - when it appears - click Custom. After a short interval, you should see a list of categories on the left, one of which will be Hardware, Optional followed by a number in brackets.

Open Drivers provides a similar service without the rigmarole of mandatory registration. If the driver is not available from Windows Update you can obtain a copy of the original from there instead.
