"JobCentre WTC quotes" V "reality"

Just wondered if anyone had been given quotes from the jobcentre for CTC and/or WTC if they became self employed? I was happy to see that I would be around £200 a week better off including one hundred pounds a week from my SE.

When I do the sums, after paying the 20% childcare I am liable for, I find the actual award made to me leaves me worse off than before I started self employment.

Has this happened to you, and if so is there anything to be done about it? My new self employment is not making any money yet and won't for the foreseeable future though longer term prospects look promising

I'm confused. did they somehow guarantee you this £100 from your self employment?

If that was the projection and it's actually zero, of course you will be worse off than they calculated.

The system the jobcentre have for tax credit calculations is just a complex calculator. we put in all the information you give us, ie rent, council tax , projected earnings, previous earnings and so on. The system then gives us an estimated amount. They are not acurate as we hold no details about previous amounts payed , any oerpayments etc..
Not much help I know but you should have been made aware they are only a rough guide.
