I am just coming to the end of a MSc and have a 16-25 railcard - I am eligible for one as a mature student. The railcard website states that you can apply for a railcard when you are 25 and continue to use it for the year even if you turn 26 the day after you apply. thinking about it, it's pretty ridiculous to ask for proof that you'll still be a student in 20 weeks time - plenty of places issue annual NUS cards so if you try 4 months before the end of the year, you couldn't get a railcard because you couldn't prove you were going into the next year of your course? rubbish!
