Hi any advice plz
We were promised 20k from IHT by a relative; relative has now gone to ground & obviously trying very hard not to pay:mad:. We have a number of emails sent earlier this year confirming the amount & saying they would pay up once the estate was fully dealt with. We do not have lots of money but the other relative does so this money is a life changing amount for us. Can anyone advise on whether an email promise is legal & binding?

When you say 'owed' do you mean you lent it to them?
If it were to be a gift and they have changed their mind I think they are perfectly within their rights to do so!!Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass

In what way are you owed £20,000 pounds?
If it was in a will then you have an absolute right to the money and should consult a solicitor.
As you do not have lots of money then I assume you did not lend £20,000 and are not owed it.Been away for a while.0 -
if its in a will stating its yours then they can't get off with not giving it to you surely????You may walk and you may run
