Snagging list on new homes

Hi all

Can anyone point me to a decent list out there in cyberspce which covers all the things we should check before we move in?

We didn't have a list of things to look for when we bought this house new, and consequently had a hard job getting the builders to repair after we moved...and they were things we would never have thought to check like...the extractor fan not extracting to an external wall  and massive holes left behind the radiators for the plumbing:eek:

Cheers

We performed our initial snagging earlier this week using the checklist from https://www.snagging.org (I'm not affiliated with this site in any way). Its very thorough and includes things we would never have thought about checking. Its not free but it could save you time and money if it helps you to identify problems that could cost you long term.

Is it worth it for £15 IYO? Is it really comprehensive covering each room in detail?

When I first paid and downloaded it I felt a bit "is this it" but after finding a number of things I would have failed to pickup I was able to justify the price, but then again it is my first new build.

If you are confident and methodical you could probably get away without it, you could even draw up your own checklist with columns for description, notes etc.

Just wondering whether this list is any good and very comprehensive or not?

As I have a list which someone I know sent me which he uses when doing a "house inspection" (terms in america). Basically, it's a checklist he uses to snag. But it doesn't give any details on what to look for etc. Does the one you buy here give you details on what to check for, how to check it, or is it just a list of things to check, but not how, etc?

    Any help appreciated :)

    TIA

When you first go looking at your new house you can get carried away about the colour of the tiles and "oooh, look at the door handles!"
I could have really done with a checklist when I bought my flat, especially as we have since found that the internal wall behind our kitchen cupboards has a huge hole in it!
We're torn between getting the builder back to rip off our kitchen cupboards and bodge the job even more or do we risk a future buyer finding it and never being able to sell!

In the spirit of moneysaving, does anyone have a copy of this ist that they can supply me for free please?

Assuming that it isn't copyrighted of course, though I can't possibly see how such information could be copyrighted!

    TIA.

Nice idea ukmonkey but I bet it is copywritted, I've spent ages looking for a snagging list or punch list (USA version) online for free but have had no luck.
Maybe a MSE builder might be able to help us with a guide?

I can't see how "check the taps are the right way around" and such can be copyrighted to be honest...
