Electricty - advice please - 22.66p/kWh
Options
We moved into a new house in May and it's taking us some time to sort out our accounts.
We registered for Gas and Electric when we moved in and set up the accounts. At the same time we moved the meter to a "real" meter rather than pay-as-you-go / pre-pay card meter.
At the time there was some hoo-ha about us not being able to have a direct debit set up on the electric account (although they hapilly set up DD for the Gas)
I've just been looking at out first quarterly bill that arrived about a month and seen that they are trying to charge us 22.661p / kWh. This seems a bit steep.
Any advice?

Check one of the comparison sites and change supplier0

We're gong to try to - but first of all we want to try and find out why the tariff we've been put on is so high.
All we've done is move from renting - with good payment history going back > 5 years, to house owner0 -
it looks like that price is the top tier of your supplier
for example BG tier 1 - For the first 125 kwh per quarter it is 22.500 (for example). then Tier 2 may be someting like 10.250 for the rest of the quarter. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -
Ah - might be onto something. The first estimated bill was something ridiculously low - like 10kWh.
We corrected the estimate but if they are rebilling us, it's probably got lost in the postal strike. Either that or they'll hit us for the whole lot next time.0 -
Sounds like British Gas 6% tracker product or price promise June 2010 fixed price product, first band is 500 kwh for both and the rates will drop down to around around 7p-11p after that depending on product/ region/ payment type0
