Volunteer mileage??

Hello! Can anyone help me? I volunteer for a charity once a week, and use my car to get to and from the charity's office where I volunteer. Is there any way of claiming any of the mileage back from the Government (but not through the actual charity as I don't want to take any money away from them)?
I'd appreciate any help.

I don't think so, it's jthe same as people not being able to claim mileage for getting to and from their usual place of work.

No, but if you are a taxpayer you could claim mileage from the charity and then donate the same amount to them using Gift Aid, then at least the charity will get some money from the Government even if you don't. There does have to be an actual exchange of money in both directions - you can't just get a pretend payment from them and make a pretend payment to them.
