Gatwick parking (& hotel??)

Apologies if there's a relevant thread, but I've done a search and didn't see anything, so, here goes.
We will be taking a 7am flight from Gatwick, and travelling from the South West (about a four hour journey). We usually use SW airports, & I'm completely clueless about Gatwick, so would appreciate advice from those in the know.
We need parking for the week, hassle-free, with super-easy transfers.
We don't like 'key drop off' parking, preferring to park and leave, without anyone else having access to our vehicle for the duration.
On airport is likely to be best for us, I guess, though I'm also wondering about any good hotel deals, if we travelled up the night before - are there any which are so cut price they compete with just parking?
Thanks a lot for any who can help:D

The Travelodge usually works out pretty cheap with Parking . they do move you car further up the car park , but within the fenced compound .
if you want a basic hotel the travel lodge is okay for the price IMO
try looking on here

we stayed at the holiday inn crawley - 3 miles away (the holiday inn on gatwick has a £10 parking charge!) friday night in august £41 (the night porter even opened the breakfast up for us at 4.30am (should be from 6.30) so we managed to get a coffee and cereal before our flight.
we then booked parking at gatwick at a cost of £50 for 7 days through this link - http://www.gatwickairport.com/
blue box on the right - long stay north supersaver
hope this helps x0 -
Hello
What date did you need the hotel stay for? How many nights parking do you need and is it a double or Family Room needed? Also do you need the North or South Terminal at Gatwick?
Using this info I'm sure one of us can track down a good deal for you!0 -
Thanks so much guys - we're flying at 7am, on the 22nd Oct and getting back mid-day on the 29th. I've no idea whether it's north or south terminal yet, as I haven't received any more details, having only booked it yesterday. Hotel isn't an absolute 'must do', as we can drive across in the wee hours, however it's a thought, if prices are comparatively close to the price just for parking, if you see what I mean. There's just the two of us, and as long as the accommodation was clean, quiet and dry, we wouldn't be fussy!
In fact, the only thing that I would insist on is that I take my car keys with me - so no 'valet parking' or 'drop keys in reception' jobbies. Had a bad experience once, and won't do it again!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -

That's going to be the killer - I don't think any of the Gatwick carparks work on that basis. Certainly none that I've used - which is most of them. And most of the hotels that have parking deals make you take the car to a car park - it's rarely actually at the hotel.
try abcholidayextras - if you trawl through you may find something0 -
the Hilton offers (or at least it did last October) an option to park at the Europark next door for...when we stayed there we parked our cars in the spaces they stayed in for the duration of our trip...what I can't remember is if we had to leave our keys....I don't think we did - I'm almost sure we kept them but could be wrong.

You could check holidayextras.co.uk (quidco too, I think) - if you search for airport hotels with parking - it will say where the parking is (i.e. "at the hotel", or at an off-site lot)...and you can sort by type of parking...that would at least narrow down the options and you could check with the hotels you're interested in to see if you keep your keys or they do.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

the parking i quoted above is a park yourself and keep your keys:D0 -
We had a good experience at the London Gatwick Mercure. It was £75 for a room for the night and also for 8 days parking, they took the keys but we had a spare if need be. To be fair the car came back with no scratches or dents and was parked securely.0

The only Hotel & Parking Package i can find you where you park the car yourself and keep the keys is at the Hilton connected to the South Terminal at £149 with parking at the official Long Stay car park.
If you left you keys and car at the Russ Hill Hotel it would only cost you £67 for the hotel and parking though!!
Parking only where you keep your keys is £50.40 at the North Terminal or £55.80 at the South Terminal on the SuperSaver rate which has to be booked several weeks before.0 -
Thanks to all who offered help & advice - I've just booked a package of overnight stay, secure parking (take your key with you) and transfer for £69; best price long stay take your key with you I could get was £62, so seems a good deal - fingers crossed, and I'll let you know how we get on! The site I used was this one:
