I got my first payslip today as just started new job. What would be the approx amount for a salary of 31k as I think I have been overpaid.. Also would you let accounts know?

Is it possible that they haven't got your tax sorted out yet?
In any case, yes if you have a query re your wages you should speak to HR/payroll/accounts (ie whoever deals with wages in your organisation). If there has been an overpayment, you will have to pay it back, so it is worth getting it sorted before you spend the money or get into debt.
Good luck with your new job! :jI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Thank you..I'll ask them to look into it tmr. such a shame cos the figure they have put looks soooo much better than the figure it will prob go down to! lol0

You can work our your weekly, monthly and annual salary after tax at http://www.pru.co.uk/guides_tools/calcs/income_tax/
For £31K, the monthly salary after tax comes in at £1942. Hope that helps!
But, yes, if you've been overpaid then you need to speak to Payroll asap!0 -
Definitely talk to them as there will be negative results in the future with you repaying the excess money as well as being fired possiblyMSE allowed me to see the light0

Thanks Carolbe, that's actually more than I thought I'd get before I was overpaid! Looks like I've been over paid by about £600.00. Will be honest and ask them to recheck the payment tmr.0

Now you never know, it may be if you havent worked this year and its to do with the tax allowances from back to April.
If it is 'enjoy' and dont spend it all at once :j
let us know how you get on.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Well I haven't worked since beg March but even the basic pay on it looks really high. Will report back tmr. Thanks all0

No brainer,
Tell them (prob tax).
This makes you look like an honest person and will set you in good standing. Lets say you do not say and its not tax - you will get found out, and then what do you say. I lied or I did not notice, either way you look incompetant (like my spelling - is there a spell check?).
A friend of mine got over paid for 2 years, he noticed straight away but did not say, two years later it was spotted. He was not fired but now has to pay back £5000 that paid for nice holidays he could not afford and also it looks bad on him.

If you havent worked at all this tax year it looks like you are probably in the money :j
Mines a large red :beer:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Seems I am in the money. Got Payroll to check this morning and part of it is tax rebate and the rest is because they pay for full month of Sept because of when I started rather than up to 21st as I presumed. Fantastic news for me after being out of work for 6 months.. means can pay off one debt in full with the extra money! Whoop Whoop!0
