    Your money or your dogs.

I'm sure that wasn't quite the saying, but it seems to fit the position. You shouldn't rule anything out at this stage.

    Hi Lee,

Think it could be Alvin Hall ? The " money or your life " chap ?

I certainly wont rule out any possibilities to sort out my debts for sure but it's unlikely that selling them will be top of my list.

  • Hi Karen

Wanted to add my good wishes to you. I am also epileptic although it is under control. It wasn't until the medication was changed that it stopped running my life and became under control. Is it worth getting your medication checked? I can now drive, I do have the odd panic attack, but I am sensible with everything. Stress is unhelpful to the cause so whilst you are clearly concerned about your situation, you are not alone, thats the thought that keeps me going anyway.! Good luck, and you WILL be just fine.
My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

  • Hi Karen, welcome to the board. There will be a lot of people who will be able to give you advice and support.
Well done on facing up to your debts, the next few months are going to be very tough. I am an animal lover too and understand your feelings on your dogs - they are part of the family.

The only tip I can give you is to write down everything you spend - I keep a spreadsheet so I can see what is happening every month. It makes it a lot easier to keep track of bills etc and you can budget in advance if you do it monthly.

Definately have a go at ebaying - you will be surprised how much stuff you have to sell which you don't need and i'm sure you will be surprised how much money it sells for. Note of warning - keep an eye on how much the fees are so that you have kept aside enough to cover them from your sales.

Do you know about Quidco/cash back sites? They sound too good to be true, but they are amazing.

Good luck with the benefits appeal as well.

Do you have a car which you can give up as well?

    Hiya -

Just wanted to welcome to the site and wish you the best of luck! This site is brilliant and everyone is truly amazing. People really have no idea the difference they are making to my life right now :D

I know what you mean about pets being expensive, I have a dog and cat, and I feel like i'm ALWAYS purchasing pet food, then theres vet bills, and my dog's grooming sessions but despite the expense they are part of the family and I couldn't imagine being without them plus on the upside the dog provides plenty of free days out with walks in the parks and woods etc :D

:j They are expensive for sure and, we dont seem to think about the ongoing cost do we when we decide to have one ? Our Belgian cost quite a bit from being 12 months old due to having a pancreatic disorder and we were only able to claim for the first year for his medication at that time from our pet insurance and this was a lifelong condition. ( I can feel LSE keeling over at this point ! )

More free days out to come !

    Morning Positive and Focused,

Thanks for your kind message. This condition for me has been hard to come to terms with despite knowing i'm not the only one. Developing this when just turning 40 came as such a shock. I think my seizures are more or less under control now and my medication has been increased but I also suffer from blank seizures which last several hours and there's no medication which will stop them from happening. I'm conscious but on a different planet and, well am confused . When like this I've queued up to get out of Aldi without wanting to buy anything and, have got on a bus and tried paying the fare with my cheque book ! A few weeks ago when in Sainsburys I walked out of the store with some some shopping not having paid for it. Didn't get stopped either! If I had then they'd ve had a fun time with me for sure !
I've been in touch with my nurse and consultant again re this as it really does have an affect on my daily life should it happen. There's also a chance that they may not be blank seizures either.Nightmare !
Like you I'm going to be positive and, get rid of this debt somehow and, no matter how long it takes .

    Morning Mel19632,

Sorry for the late reply to your message and, useful advice. You've obviously twigged I'm not computer literate. Will have a go at adding a signature and, subscribing to the thread too. I did think once I'd starting my diary that it could be a pain looking for my thread when I needed to post.

We have a car but can't sell it as my OH needs it for going to work and travelling by bus and train would work out more expensive.

A lodger would be ideal to make extra cash but we dont have a spare room.

I am a member of a few cashback sites but have only really used them for cashback. I have done a few clicks here n there in the past but do find it tedious. It's going to be ignore tedious and do it now.

I think I'm going to hammer Ebay as much as I can and get shut of clutter as I do have plenty.

    Thanks again for your reply.

:beer:Hi and welcome youve done the hardest bit, once you write things down you will be in control. I have bits of paper here there and everywhere and a calendar which is updated daily as to what is going in and out of the bank. Its become a daily routine, its amazing how much we take things for granted and once you become aware you feel in control. Good luck and welcome to the mad world of DFW.:T
