Just wondered if anyone had any experience, good or bad, with internet filtering software. The type that allows you to block access to certain sites or sites with inappropriate content.
We are trially Browser Control from Codework but it is causing a lot of printing conflicts which is a shame because it does everything we need. We need a network version or multiple pc version with central control functions.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.

There are a few options
Do you have a central server? You can get software that runs from there, but it is fairly specific to your server environment.
What sort of router/modem do you use to connect to the internet (I assume you have broadband)?0 -
As fguk said, it depends on how you connect to the Internet.
The best place to have the restriction would be on the router. If you look at something like the Draytek Vigor 2800, this has filtering to do what you require. It configuration options are fairly comprehensive. It costs about £150, but is worth it. I got one for a client and it has been excellent.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
We have a central server running windows 2003. CISCO router connects LAN to broadband.
I will take a look at the Draytek Vigor 2800. Some options I have seen cost thousands, others just don't do the job I need.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. If you are running Microsoft ISA server on your central server (most probably as part of Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium), then you can use a product called
GFI Web Monitor
About £250 for upto 25 users.
It will block internet access to certain web pages, virus scan internet content, monitoring, all sorts of things.0
