Swoopo.co.uk have taken £2000+ out of my current account

I'm reeling from shock just at the moment. I checked my balance the other day to find that FIVE payments had been made to the 'auction' site Swoopo amounting to £2025-77 from my current account. I had never heard of the site, let alone used it. Also on the same day O2 were paid £30 top up in Slough, not a place I have ever been to.
By coincidence (or maybe not) I had a single rogue credit card payment to
Caliroots, Sweden for £79-10 a couple of days earlier, which was picked up by the credit card company's automatic monitoring system, which telephoned my to query it.
I am so careful to shred all paperwork, including credit card slips and never let the card out of my sight in restaurants. While my credit card gets a lot of use on the Internet, I keep my debit card linked to my current account for cash withdrawals almost completely (except occasional spend at Lidl) I have disputed all of these payments but it will all take time to sort out.
Has anyone got any ideas how this could have happened and what should I do to prevent it in the future.

Was this on your credit or debit card ?
Surprised your bank didn't think something fishy was going on with that amount being paid out in five separate transactions to the same company?0 -
Contact the bank, raise a dispute regarding them.
Also the o2 payment, slough is where the payment centre is and not where the shop is based.I am a Mortgage Adviser

I apparently purchased New Jersey Truck Drivers insurance a few years ago (I don’t even drive), last year we were called to ask if we had purchased a Vodafone top up as one was going through the system ‘now’, yet nothing was done to stop this transaction. Earlier this year we got a call to say our cards were blocked as the police had informed them of a fraud.
I like the OP am quite careful on card usage but it does seem to happen and the credit card companies never let you know how and why it happened.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

The Swoopo £2025-77 and £30 O2 top up was debit card and the Caliroots £79-10 was my credit card. I agree that my bank should have been suspicious with multiple payments racking up over £2000 and taking me way over my agreed overdraft limit.
I don't know what else to do to protect my money. I have signed up to CCP Identity protection but that is costing me £69-99 a year.0 -
Long shot but you haven't used your card at the cash machine at Hartshead Moor service station on the M62 have you?
One of my friends mum and dad both used their cards there within a day of each other and both had similar things happen to them that have happened to you.
Just a thought. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00
