    How did you make the vanilla extract?
    I've just discovered I never replied to this - sorry.

    I cut a vanilla pod in half lengthways and then cut the two halfs into three (to fit into the bottle) then placed in a 150ml bottle with vodka and left in cupboard for a few weeks. I then decanted liquid into another container and refilled with vodka. This was then left until the first lot was finished before being transferred as before. I repeated until it stopped working as well and then started on a new vanilla pod.
