Car Giant - Opinions?

Yes, I've bought a few there and would recommend. Brief history:
1990 - Bought a Jaguar V12 Saloon for £5999 (book value was about £10k). Had an oil leak so they took it back and lent me a Granada while they fixed it. No further problems.
2000 - Bought a Lexus GS300 Sport for £15999 (book value was about £19k). They replaed two tyres which were the wrong size. I still have the car and love it.
2005 - Brother-in-law bought a Vauxhall Omega Estate for £4999. Great deal and no problems.
Sometimes there will be minor issues with a car but they will fix if you complain so don't worry about that. Trade-in values are poor though.
And it's a great place to go and look at cars! Friends have been using them regularly since the early 80s. They used to have a two branches on the A40 (one is now Acton Homebase) but have now consolidated into a single site. Can I help?0 -
I have looked their a couple of times but all the cars seem to have some little problem (blemish/missing paper work/...) and givne the higher than average milages and minor issues they no longer seem such a bargain axcept for nearly new cars, plus cos the site is so large it can be difficult to get a salesman to let you look at / hav more info about several different cars if you are not sure what you are after - plus for me a car is a large purchase but cos they have/sell so many they make don't make you feel like your purchase is a big deal...
However I didn't actually buy from them so can't really comment on how well things do if you do. I did buy from trade sales in slough who also are very big but only really do nearly new cars.I think....0 -
I've not personally bought cars from car supermarkets. This is mainly due to most of their cars being ex-fleet or bought from auctions. I would rather go to an auction and pay the same prices they paid rather than paying extra.
Also as Michaels state - they tend to be of a higher mileage.
But I cannot give an opinion on Car Giants reputation except from other people who will not recommend them.0 -
Most are ex-fleet, similar to what you COULD buy, yourself in auction.
But they'll let you have a more thorough inspection, than auction does & better 'staturatory rights' if there is a problem.
& in many cases, perhaps only £5-800 more than auction (depending on it's selling price. So depending on how you value your time & auction buying skills, could well be a worthwhile place to buy!!
