Bidding War Advice Please?

I listed two designer clothes items, 10 day listing. I described the items correctly and provided loads of photos, including photos of the faults. I started the bidding on both two items at a low price £5.99. That was the lowest price I would want to sell for, so I would have been happy with just 1 bid.
Over the past 10 days I have had two newbie ebay members bidding against one another. As soon as one placed a bid the other outbid them.
The items ended tonight for far more than they are worth. I sat watching my items for the last 5 minutes before they ended. For the first time ever, I was shouting at the computer Nooooo, stop!!!!
One of the bidding war members won both items. Although really nice I am now worried that the member will be dissapointed with what they receive.
Although I did describe accurately, I feel they were bidding out of a matter of principle, so not to let the other bidder win.
Will post to them tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed the buyer is happy.
Has this happened to anyone else?

This has happened to me. I sold quite a lot of haynes manuals on e bay and was quite surprised at what people paid for them.
Then again a lot of people didn't want the hassle of going out and getting them, or didn't know where to get them.
Some were other workshop manuals that were out of print. I couldn't believe how much they were going for.
I never got any negative feedback, or had any problems at all. One lady in USA claimed not to have received hers but she stopped replying to me so I assumed hers was just slow.
I would post as normal and don't pre empt any problems. Send a curtesy e mail to the buyer asking that they let you know that the items arrive safely. Don't say any more than that.
If they've sold for more than they are worth then you'll be quids in. If you do get an issue, you could offer a reasonable partial refund to keep their faces straight.

I've seen me doing that, nothing too high though. If I'm sitting bidding for an item and someone outbids me I get competitive. Trying to get out of this habit hough. LOL.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0

It's a common thing you're feeling, but you should just remind yourself that things are worth different amounts to different people.
With regards to the outbidding straight after, aer you sure it wasn't just one had put in a high starting bid?

If you have described the item fairly and accurately then you are fine. The buyer cant complain - and probably wont anyway.
It is quite common to see items go for more than they are worth (to you, or to what they are priced in the shops). I put this down to the PayPal factor - if I can buy something with my PayPal 'money' I will pay more than if I had to pay by cash. I suspect it is the same for others.0 -

As I packed the items I wondered why they would pay so much
We'll see.
If I have any probs, I may be back for your advice!!!
