Online tax disc cancellation
Morning!
I renewed my car tax online this morning and a 'you have cancelled your application' message flashed up. I rang the DVLA to check this and, on a whim, as I have recently moved, I asked them to check that they had my new address details which I sent to them a couple of weeks ago. However they still have my old address details on their system and my tax disc (which had NOT been cancelled online) is going to be posted there. I asked if I could cancel my online application for a new disc and they said it couldn't be done. As I do not have contact with the new tennants at my previous address (and it's a good few miles away!) I was informed I would have to ask for a new disc and pick it up from my nearest DVLA office (which is also a substantial distance away!) Why can't they cancel my online application and why can't they post a new disc to my new address??!!!! I'm tempted to cancel my online payment for the tax disc and just go to the Post Office for one, but will they have it on record that I have already applied for one online? Can anyone offer me any advice?

Yes, remember that this is the public sector you're dealing with. Don't expect good service, because it won't happen.0

Haven't you got postal redirection set up?
Always a good idea especially when moving from rented accommodation.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I have but the Royal Mail told me that they do not redirect post from the DVLA, as their envelopes have 'DNR/Do not redirect' written on them.
Saying that the Royal Mail HAVE redirected so-called 'DNR' post to me before, so for once here's hoping they continue to ignore their own rules and redirect my tax disc!

Well fingers crossed that it gets redirected to me. I seem to grind my teeth and break out in a sweat if I have to talk to the DVLA, can't imagine why!:rolleyes:0
