If the OP would like try it for us and give a report on his findings, then perhaps we could establish whether he's spamming!

    Hi,
A couple of weeks back I subscribed to Money Week magazine. This weeks mag “Famous Market Maverick Unleashes a ‘Child’s-Play’ Trading System so Simple a 12 Year Old Could Follow it. So Quick, You Could do it in 20 Minutes a Day... and so Profitable You Could Pull in a Recession-Proof £7,000 a Month From Home!”
Flag Trader is simple to use. Once you've gone through the educational CDs, all you need to do is use Guy's online scanner to pick out the promising trades. There's a clever filter to help you tweak your short list even further. Since August I've seen some great flag pattern breakouts and with the online software, spotting the moves has been very easy.”
£997 (£1,171.48 incl VAT) Refunds: 30 day refund period

2 Coulds too many here for me.
What stake to be risked for £7000 a month profit?

    Regards,

    N.
Never be afraid to take a profit. ;)
    Keep breathing.

Just learn how to identify a "flag" and save yourself over a £1000
It doesn't sound like a complete trading system. What does it tell you to do if the pattern doesn't act as expected? How do they come up with £7000 a month? Why does a system that could be followed by a 12 year old need 8 DVD's to tell you how to do it???

If anyone is interested here is a bit of free software that identifies flags (and other chart patterns) and works with free daily price data from Yahoo or Google. http://thepatternsite.com/patternz.html

Er, so you agree that the only money is to be made is by selling this useless carp and not by actually using the systems?

    So: what's your point?
    ;-)

I don't have a point. I am not selling this product or promoting it in any way shape or form and unless someone here comes up with first hand experience and a good report I will not be buying it. Like most here I am cynical and presume that these types of things are some sort of scam. Also I am new here and presume that most if not all of these things have come up before and been exposed or otherwise. I know some members of this forum have been on self financed courses and presume that they have investigated this product or this type of product.

Thanks I have looked at that link. Do I take it then that there are trends and patterns that are known about and recognised indicators of whether to buy or sell and that these software packages do that i.e. identify those recognised patterns?

There are always trends and patterns that are hyped as buying/selling systems. Anyone that uses these solely to buy/sell shares will make a loss.

Test them out and make your own judgement; over the medium to long term, obviously, not just for a day or two. And historically - ie show that the signal ocurred, then that the predicted event took place.

And if you find such a system, PM it to me and then keep it secret for 12 months.
    ;-)

There's a fairly active Technical Analysis board on TMF, here. Posters there should be able to help you.

Dont touch with a 10000 foot barge pole.

Go to the library, get some books, read them. The internet is also a cornucopia of free knowledge.
