No you can't copy it - it has to be installed, which is a different process. The installation process alters certain files already on the PC, which a simple copy can not achieve.
You can borrow an Office CD to install it, but you'll need the License Key from the current installation. Also, the license probably only allows you to run one copy of Office, so you'd need to uninstall it from the laptop.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Ask MS for a replacement copy. Borrow a copy (use your pre-existing keys). Search out your CD copy. Is there a download trial available again use your key to register. Buy another copy if your DS is at school / college.0

Good advise above, or you could download and install OpenOffice which is free. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

It depends on the version. Some editions of Office are drag and drop.0

No edition of MS Office for the past 12 years has been drag and drop from the hard disk to a DVD/CD.

If they're both connected to the internet you could set up a workgroup and then use the remote desktop connection to use it on your laptop from your new computer.0

Can't answer your last question, but another alternative would be Google docs, again free and you can create and store all your documents online.

BTW Here is a link to Open Office.
