I plan to upgrade my netbook soon and will eventually be putting a couple of Eee PCs on eBay. Any suggestions for purging the SSDs so any personal data is removed?

PPMMy advice is worth exactly what you're paying for it!

what OS is currently on the Netbook?
saying that:
Geeky easy way...
1) Download a liveCD version of the OS that's on the Netbook
2) There should be a program to put that image onto a USB flash drive
3) Boot from the flash drive
4) Open up the terminal prompt
5) Type the following
sudo dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sda
6) Wait till it finishes
you now have one wiped drive (it might take a while to run!)
7) Run the install on the LiveCD to put a fresh version of the OS
8) Profit.... ^__^Laters

If they are still running the installed Xandros distro then it's simples..
Turn on your Eee pc
Continuously press F9 until a screen comes up with three options.
The third will be 'reset to factory settings.
This will delete all data and reset your eee pc.
Press down until it is highlighted then press enter
It will tell you what it is about to do and ask you to type yes to continue.
Type in yes - no capital letters
It will reset your Eee pc and ask you to press enter to reboot
Result - Intact OS and all data/updates deleted ie back to as bought"It's nice to be important but more important to be nice"

Irrecoverably? If so, excellent, thanks.bubblesbonbon wrote: »Result - Intact OS and all data/updates deleted ie back to as boughtThere's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

it would be better to wipe the drive with something like dban.
as already mentioned, you could use a usb flash drive (and unetbootin to install dban to the flash drive)0
