Travel to London from Swansea

Hi all,
I am travelling to London on the 2nd October. Essentially, my trip is this:
about 7:30am
Swansea > Acton Central
8:30pm-ish
Acton Central > Swansea
Now, Ive done some searching and most of the directions take me this route:
Swansea
Paddington
Tube stations
So my best stab at it is a train from Swansea to Paddington return is about £50 and a off peak zones card for £5.60 (i think it is) for the tube travel.
Can anyone beat that or suggest anything else?

A return from Swansea to Paddington is more than £50
However an advance single each way (booked on the FGW site) should be about £50 though - book now to get these prices.
As Acton is in zone 3, you'll need a zones 1-4 off peak travelcard for £6.30 - the £5.60 is zones 1-2 only.
Does it have to be Acton Central? You can easily get a local train back out of Paddington for £5.30 day return - but to Acton Main Line. It's quite near (within half a mile) and a lot simpler journey.
It would be worth pricing Swansea - Acton Mainline - it looks like the trip back out of Paddington is thrown in for nothing on the advance singles0 -
Hi there,
I used thetrainline.co.uk website and its coming in at around £56. Whats the FGW site?
My other question is I dont need to stay in Acton till 8pm, could I use my ticket to get to Paddington at say, 4pm (obviously depending on when trains run etc)
Tried Acton main line so I may well have a look to see if I can do that, esp as its quicker. Id be buying advanced tickets anyway but any help is good help!0 -
By using the FGW website you will avoid the trainline's fees and save 10% on Advance Single tickets.0

Will give you 10% on some tickets and not charge you a booking fee. So £56 plus fee would come down to about £50 with no fee
If you buy the day return from Paddington to Acton then you can use any train on that leg.
Not sure about the advance T&C for connecting journeys - I think you have to travel reasonably near the booked time on the local service - and ON the booked train for the main reserved journey.
If you think you might be making extra journeys I'd get the railcard anyway - it's valid to Acton Mainline as well as on the tube, whichever is more convenient.0
