Which company should I claim off???

Hi, be grateful for any advice on this one..

My original credit card was taken out with Morgan Stanley some time ago (probably more then 6 years ago but I can't find paperwork to show exactly when) but then it was changed by them over to firstly, Goldfish and then finally to Barclaycard.

I closed the Barclaycard account a couple of months ago.

I have paid PPI for the whole period but am Self-employed and was told I had to take it out.

So I just wondered if anyone knows which company I should write to and also if I need to find original paperwork to prove the dates??

    Hello and welcome.

My original credit card was taken out with Morgan Stanley some time ago (probably more then 6 years ago but I can't find paperwork to show exactly when) but then it was changed by them over to firstly, Goldfish and then finally to Barclaycard.
Normally when requesting agreements, they do charge a £1 payable by cheque or postal order, I would give Barclays a ring on this first and they should confirm who you should write to, then if you want to you could always request a Subject access request (SAR) where normally they can go back as far as 6 years and supply all the information they hold on you. There is £10 charge for this one, they have 40 days to comply.
Going back to the agreements, if you only require this, this as above is £1 and takes 12 days.

I closed the Barclaycard account a couple of months ago.
Hopefully then they may still be able to provide you with an agreement.

I have paid PPI for the whole period but am Self-employed and was told I had to take it out.
Every policy varies, but try to get hold of the terms and conds of this ppi, as some self employed are covered, not with them all though, but to be told that you had to take it then you do have a case already.

So I just wondered if anyone knows which company I should write to and also if I need to find original paperwork to prove the dates??
If you still hold the account number, at this point then write to them about reclaiming the PPI due to your reasons, as stated above ring them first to find out who you have to contact in regards of your data and say you also need to know who you should write to in regards of complaints, of just write to Barclays anyway to reclaim where they should write back and let you know anyway if its not them, they should give you details of whom.

This way as well they may actually provide you with the agreement, if so then you do not pay a penny for this.

For more information on reclaiming check here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

You will come across useful information, a checklist of mis selling reasons and templates, you do not have to use the templates, but as a guide with your own words and the reasons that occur to you.

They have 8 weeks to respond, you do not need to write the amounts down, but keep at them until they resolve or until they issue you with the final decision which should also enclose the details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS), you should be able to take your complaint to them if your not happy with the outcome.

Post by recorded delivery - this is your proof of posting.

Good luck and please post up for further help if required.;)

    Hi again

Just done some digging, it seems that Morgan & Stanley are still active, found some details of them on Companies House, I assume they are the same ones that first sold you the finance, so maybe then write to them for a SAR first and/or the agreement.

    Name & Registered Office:
    MORGAN STANLEY & CO. LIMITED
    LEGAL DEPT
    25 CABOT SQ. CANARY WHARF
    LONDON
    E14 4QA
    Company No. 02164628

    spacer.gifspacer.gifspacer.gifspacer.gifStatus: Active
    Date of Incorporation: 15/09/1987

As these were the company that arranged and sold you the finance, if you want to request for all your paperwork, the best there would be a SAR, hopefully they will supply the agreement with that, this request they have 40 days to comply.
Link here to template for SAR:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

But if you want to just request for the agreement, I used to just write a quick simple request for this, unless someone can post the template up for this also, but basically just ask that they send you your Agreement (CCA) and that you enclose the £1 payment, and expect to receive this by 12 days, post by recorded delivery.

If you no account number try to give them as much details as possible, like any different address when you first taken the finance out, also your date of birth and surname changes, this should make tracking easier.

Yet if you already have the account number there is no harm in continuing as stated in my last post above, to reclaim on the PPI with your reasons, this way they may even supply your agreement along with their first response to you.

    Hope this helps.;)
