  • So managed another £100 of my catalogue debt this week! :j
This is the one i want to pay off first as it has the highest APR. Will pay minimums on my other cards and will pay as much as i can off the catalogue to start with - will be nice to get that one gone.
  • Yesterday wasn't a NSD as i bought an Xmas present but i do have the money for all Xmas presents in my savings account. However i caved and got a take away last night.

I wanted to treat myself as i lost half a pound at Weight Watchers so chuffed at that.
  • Well today was a NSD - i've taken all the pics of the cosmetics i'm selling on ebay, worked out the postage and now just need to get them posted but i will do this tomorrow as plan on spending the night on here and watching Strictly Come Dancing as OH is at work so i get control of the remote!!

Made a saving on the Xmas presents today. Between me and my OH we would normally spend £120 on my mum, dad and sister (£60 each) however mum says we are too old for presents in the normal way so instead we are all buying one present for £30 and we will then do a swap so we have to buy something that would be suitable to for anyone. So a £60 saving on the Xmas presents in one phone call.
  • Well yesterday was another NSD - 2 out of my target of 10 in October. Today will hopefully be one as the only spend i have to make is diesel but that is budgeted for already.

Got lots of items on ebay and have a few bids on some already so hopeful to make a bit there.

Also spent about an hour last night online entering competitions. I've turned my OH into a comper! He spent his day off yesterday doing postcards for competitions. Lets just hope we win something now!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hi - hello and welcome. Well done for making a start.

Have you tried putting your debt details into whatsthecost.com - and checking out the snowball - ie if you change the order of paying off your debt - how much interest will you save, it also give you your potential debt free date and can motivate you to increase the amount you pay off

Well done on the ebaying. Perhaps take a look at the Make £10 a day challenge too for more ideas on uping your income!

  • Well had another NSD on Tuesday as was off work ill and barely got out of bed let alone spend money.
  • Well not posted for a while and am going to do another SOA soon as some of my outgoings have changed and i'm hoping some of my debts have reduced.
Managed to make about £100 on ebay with items that finished this weekend so that will go on one card. Also made some money selling some gold which was easy as anything!! If only i had more gold lying around!

I've decided that 2010 is definitely the year of change for me both money and weight wise. Fell off the wagon a bit with both but am determined to get back on track. I'm going to get a new notepad at Tesco tonight (slip it in the basket when OH not looking and he'll pay for it) and am going to keep a proper spending diary. Might make it easier and get a diary instead of a notepad as my filofax is too small (and full) to record spending in it.

I want to clear my debts by at least 50% by the end of 2010 and would have liked to have cleared it by the time we go on holiday in April 2011.

I am also definitely going to make more use of this diary and the site to try and cut things down.

Here's to 2010 - i'm actually looking forward to it and will be making sure i don't go made over the next 2/3 weeks.
  • Absolutely gutted this morning!
Checked my cards and i owe almost the same as i did when i posted the 1st SOA even though i know i've paid off almost £500 on the cards!!!! Obviously i've not cut back as much as i thought  So mad at myself.

So here is my current SOA:

Ok, here is my SOA which has some explanations about:

Monthly income after tax - £1244
    Partners monthly income – N/A
    Benefits - £0

    Expenses
Mortgage - £339 I give my husband a lump sum each month which covers the mortgage, gas, electric, water, TV licence, council tax, landline, TV and life assurance.
    Mobile Phone - £30
    Petrol/Diesel - £40
Personal Pension - £62 (also have one through work so am currently paying into two)
    Gym - £0 - cancelled it
Laptop insurance and breakdown cover - £24
Bank account charge - £15 (pay this as i get RAC cover, holiday insurance and mobile phone insurance included and was paying more than this amount for the same things previously)
    Charity donation - £0 - cancelled it
Other £100 – i put this away each month to cover car tax, car insurance, buildings and contents and my football season ticket which all come in April/May each year
Weekly spending money - £30 per week = £120 per month

    Expenses Total: £730.00

    Unsecured Debt
    Barclaycard - £2499
    Mint – £648
    Egg - £697
    Catalogue - £160
    Unsecured debt totals £4004

    Assets
    House Value - £120,000
    Shares/Bonds - £12,000
    Car - £6000
    Other assets - £11,000

This leaves me with £514 per month £300 of which i would like to save, so that leaves me about £214 to pay onto cards.
This should mean that 19 months and i will be debt clear. This just about falls into my goal of being debt clear by the time i go on holiday in April 2011.

At present i have £100 in paypal account which will go on cards and £150 in current account to pay onto cards. I will probably clear the catalogue first and then work from the smallest to the largest, whilst paying the min on all of them. Oh and i should get about £100 Xmas bonus from work which OH doesn't know about so i can put that on the cards too.

Sorry for rambling - helps get it clear in my head. I managed to sneak a notepad and diary into the shopping last night so from the payday in December i will be keeping a daily track of everything i spend as in reality i shouldn't need to spend the £30 weekly money each week so any left over i will put into a sealed pot to break into next December or when full (whichever comes first).
