Hello,

We have lived in our place for 9 months and next week BG said they will ring us and discuss credit and changing our direct debit payments etc.

As we are in £205 credit (We use BG for both Gas and Electric) is it best to let that roll on or can you claim it back? We always give reading by the way

At the moment we are paying £32 for gas and £24 for Electric (DD monthly payments).

Do they offer to lower them if you are in credit? I've read about switching and cashback on here and was wondering what I should do about it.

Not really a question just after a bit of advice!

Thanks

Where is that the £205 credit shown?

If it is on-line, it is meaningless unless it is immediately after your latest bills have been debited. This is because the show credits each month but only debit quarterly.

You would expect to be well in credit at this time of year with winter approaching - particularly for gas. They aim for you to be 'all square' in Spring.

I would not be surprised if they intend to raise your payments and I doubt you will get any refund.

At £56 per month you are paying about half the UK average.

If they do try to increase your payments, tell them that you would rather keep them as they are and accept that you might be in Debit next May.

They are actual credits at the time after our most recent bill. The BG fella said they could refund us the credit or keep it rolling.

We lived here last winter and were still always in £150+ credit. We are middle floor so we hardly ever have to use the heating , even in winter it's rarely on.

I dont see how they could up our DD payments when we are in credit all the time. I might try and go with someone else for the cashback if nothing else.

Just got off the blower to them and they have reduced my DD payments to -

    Gas £21
    Electric £18

Seems good to me but we are in £200+ credit almost every month and that's with proper readings.

Have to admit Im happy with paying that as our payments were -

    Gas £35
    Electric £32

When we moved in last year. Still might move to another firm to get a bit of cashback
