Hi,
First time post so her goes..........

I have 2 Current accounts and I am really wondering which is the best account, I would be grateful for opinions before deciding..

Account 1

Lloyds Classic, account has cheque book 3-in-1 debit card (Visa Debit) used at present as a savings account for the 4% interest with 7k in it, Lloyds WILL not give me a OD limit.

Account 2

Natwest Advantage Gold, account has cheque book a 2-in-1 debit card (Now Visa Debit - but cannot use the card everywhere unlike Lloyds card) also small OD limit (Never Used) account is used for the benefits like Car Breakdown cover, Travel Insurance, Mobile Phone insurance etc.

Both accounts have salary paid in each month, I don't know if I should keep them both and each for their own purpose, or just keep the Lloyds one as its card can be used everywhere, but to be honest I use my Credit card for everything anyway and only the card to take cash out of the ATM when I need it.

What's the cost for the the accounts?

if zero why not just keep them both?

Lloyds is free and pays about £22 per month in interest, Natwest is £12.95 but I do use all the benefits for that, I should also have mentioned that Natwest gave me a small OD limit (Never used) where Lloyds would not.

    Thanks.

Why does it matter what OD limit Lloyds they give you? If you're getting the 4% interest, you have over 5k in your Vantage account!
  • I would say that if you planining on just keep one account, confused on which one to make your main account, then the answer for both of them is Lloyds Tsb without any doubt !! I have used them for years now and and touchwood without any problems !!

Even if you need those benifits then you can have them on the Gold account or the plat account with lloyds and IMO they are better packaged account than the natwest one.

Also with Lloyds you have a full visa debit with the CGC facility which is the best card you can have and is very very handy in a lot of places like pay at pump and airplane purchases etc.

Regarding the O/D if you use it as your main account they will give you one in no time , as if they can trust with the 3 in 1 card then even the O/D facility will be given to you, it just a matter of time.

In anycase give natwest a miss for lloyds for all of this and also lloyds is bank than natwest a much better bank than natwest IMO !!
