Hi there again, with regards to your photography, great that you are really happy with them, but honestly that is really expensive. I am paying £440 and I get all the pictures, copyright free, on a cd, 50 prints and photographer there from 2 until 9, we aren't getting married until 4.30pm so that covers me getting ready, the wedding, the canapes and drinks afterwards and the reception. That's just my opinion and was just wanting to show that you get great quality for a lesser price!

Shellsuit: The rights are around £300 I think.
Horace: Thanks for the advice, I think I want to get it around £150
Neneromaniva: I think we will use a docking station for the reception meal, rather than have a band or live music, but for the evening I think its nice to have a DJ with requests and lights and cheesy MC'ing!!
Tigerlilly 1980: Thanks for the input, I am quite happy to pay for the quality that they offer. Its nothing against any of the other photographers but their styles, print and album quality was all a bit "70's" and looked dated, they showed us pics taken only last year and they seriously could of been of my Grans wedding. Our photographers are modern, up to date and most of all of the highest quality we saw.
I know it may seem so very expensive, and it is. But everyone we have spoke to have said that they regretted "settling" for a photographer who they didnt get along with and didn't "get" them or capture the feel of the wedding, and its true their albums lack any atmosphere.0 -

lol I am starting to think that it is just Essex, everyone else that I have spoke to is quoting £400 but £1000 was the cheapest we could find from about 6 we saw for the package we are getting, and their work was shocking0 -
i have enquired with the ones you have booked, their work is stunning and thats very important. id like the full works thou :OCurrent Mortgage balance - £363,785.35/£420,000 (highest point Oct 2022).0

I know, its a shame that they are so expensive to be there all day, however you need to bear in mind you get 2 photographers, so really its only £600 each!? (Well thats what I tried to tell my bank manager anyway!)0

I'm in Essex too and am using Caroline Mardon for photography:

She did my friend's wedding a couple of year's ago and I just adored the photos. Her style is brilliant. I didn't bother approaching anyone else as I knew I loved her photos and I wouldn't have to give what she was up to a second thought on the day.
She doesn't provide albums, rather giving you a vast number of 7x5 prints to arrange into albums yourself. I actually love the idea of making my own albums up with all the photos (we're just having brief coverage so will get about 180 prints - we can then re-order a couple of favourites in larger sizes for framing).
Had a quote for £899 for the DJ today. Am still looking, but I'm only going with ones that are recommended. I've been to too many parties that are ruined by a terrible disco to risk someone unknown and too cheap and cheerful!
I seem to remember I put £300 in the budget for DJ so hoping to come in at that level.0 -
sarah_elton, the portfolios look great, sure they will catch some great pics of your big day!!0

Thanks.
It's just a woman operating on her own so I know who I'm getting. She brings along a second photographer on big jobs but ours isn't that. I got on really well with her at my friend's wedding so have complete confidence in her.
Re discos - cost is clearly an Essex thing. Had quotes from Chelmsford area DJs - £395, £425, £595, £899.
Had budgeted £300 for it, so, um oops. Have also decided I want our suite the night before the wedding as well as the wedding night, so that I and the bridesmaids can get ready in it. So that's the accommodation budget blown by £150.
This is going well.
